How do Orthotics work?
Podlink Orthotics are designed to improve foot function by offering shock absorption at the point of heel strike then reduce the amount of heel role and arch flattening during the gait cycle. This will intern reduce the amount of rotation inwards of the ankle, leg and knee. The diagram below compares the view of a left foot looking from behind in a shoe with and without an orthotic.

It is now widely accepted that reducing the amount of rolling or excessive pronation as it is known will improve foot function and reduce pain in many cases. A Recent Study confirmed this notion that prefabricated orthotics were effective in the treatment of such conditions as plantar fasciitis, heel pain and shin pain.
Why choose Podlink Orthotics?
Podlink Podiatrists have used many custom and non custom orthotics in their years of practice. The non custom or prefabricated devices were commonly made from EVA or polypropelene. The EVA devices always compressed within a few months and the polypropelene devices were too hard and rarely tolerated by the patient.
Podlink orthotics are the first choice in controlling abnormal foot function for many health professionals including Podiatrists and Physiotherapists.
The shape of the Podlink orthotic offers full heel cup support, between 14mm on the outside of the heel to 20mm on the inside.
The arch is set a little closer to the heel than traditional prefabricated orthotics to gain an increase in rear foot control, reflecting the true function of the foot.
The arch is less bulky than most EVA style prefabricated orthotics so it sits in a larger range of shoes more easily and increases arch comfort.

Materials - Podlink orthotics are the only device in the world that uses a combination of flexene and polypropelene. Flexene gives an incredible grip to the foot and shoe so the device never moves around in the shoe especially when sliding your foot into the shoe. Flexene provides excellent shock absorption and no noticeable compression or creasing after 3 months of wear in the critical arch contour. People recognise flexene in the grip on a golf club. The unqueness does not stop there. The blend of polypropelene gives the Podlink orthotic just the right amount of memory so the device retains its shape and provides the amount of control that is necessary to minimise poor foot posture and function. We are extremely proud of the density of the material and protect the blend Podlink has designed.
Design - The arch shape, 3/4 length and contour offers excellent comfort, function and control. The three quarter length gives the superior option of fitting Podlink orthotics into a wider range of shoes particularly slightly narrower shoes and allows the forefoot to flex at the appropriate time in the gait cycle.
